Question: I am 40 years old and have done acting in the years past. I was always told that I have a great ability to act and also I look much younger that 40. I wonder how to try to start acting at this age. Is it possible to even think this would work for me? --Val

Answer: Yes, it is possible - very possible. The beautiful thing about this business is that someone can start acting at any age. It's not restricted to people who have taken acting classes in high school or have been doing it all their lives. The only difference is that you're going to have to spend some time studying and taking classes now just like someone who is 18 and entering the business would.

The acting profession doesn't discriminate against age. This is your advantage. 40-year old actors are in as much need as 14-year old actors. Take some time training, taking classes, getting a good headshot and resume together, reading plays, finding monologues you can audition with, making connections and contacts with others in the business who can help you move forward, and be prepared for the long road ahead. If you love it, you'll love each day as you advance your career.
